> THERAPEUTIC INDICATION
Treatment of uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria in adults, children and infants over 5 kg.
The recommendations in force for the appropriate use of antimalarial treatments should be taken into consideration.
> DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Dosage
Adults and children 12 years of age or older and weighing 35 kg or more:
The total dose should be given in 6 doses of 4 tablets (i.e. 24 tablets) spread over a total of 60 hours according to the following schedule:
First dose at the time of diagnosis: 4 tablets.
Then 5 doses of 4 tablets at 8, 24, 36, 48 and 60 hours after the first dose.
Children and infants weighing from 5 kg to less than 35 kg:
Body weight from 25 kg to less than 35 kg:
First dose at time of diagnosis: 3 tablets
Then 5 doses of 3 tablets 8, 24, 36, 48 and 60 hours after the first dose.
Body weight 15 kg to less than 25 kg:
First dose at diagnosis: 2 tablets
Then 5 doses of 2 tablets 8, 24, 36, 48 and 60 hours after the first dose.
Body weight 5 kg to less than 15 kg:
First dose at time of diagnosis: 1 tablet.
Then 5 doses of 1 tablet 8, 24, 36, 48 and 60 hours after the first dose.
Method of administration
Tablets for oral administration.
Dissolve the tablet in a milk drink or water, shake the contents and drink.
In order to improve the absorption of the active ingredients, LUFANTER should be taken with a meal or with a milk drink. LUFANTER may be used with water in cases of food intolerance, but systemic exposure may be reduced. If vomiting occurs within one hour, a full dose should be re-administered.
